Charity donation turnover update

October 2009 Update:
With the aftermath of Typhoon Ketsana ("Ondoy"), the call for help continued and there was a tremendous response from various private citizens both locally and abroad. Through the efforts of Philippine Outpost Public Relations Officer & Charity Liaison Regina Layug, and other members of the 501st, a total of 89,000 pesos was raised in just 2 weeks to help the victims of the calamity.
There were also donations in kind, food and supplies all of which were delivered personally by Regina, troopers and friends to the flooded areas of Rizal and Marikina. Additional plans to reach more communities are being made together with other cause oriented groups as more donations pour in.
Earlier this year various donatons have been turned over to various charitable organizations through the appearances of the 501st Legion's Philippine Outpost for this year. Among the recipients were, Big Brother - Big Sister foundation, Gabriel's Symphony, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Bantay Bata (ABS-CBN). Gift bag donations were made to the National Children's Hospital in Quezon City through the Khyte Foundation as well as a community fund raising activity in the Sanctuario de San Antonio Parish of Makati City.
